what kind of home gym equipment should I get?

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

I’m actually sick of going to the real gym; too many people. some looking to get a piece where I can work at home with it. I’m thinking something like elliptical trainer and one of those all-in-one machines.

Now When I price one I see them from $99 all the way up to $500.

do you think a cheap one would work just as well?

What about one of those mini ellipticals that are really just feet are those any good?

I would say a basic set of dumbbells and an adjustable weight bench. You can do just about anything with those.

I don’t have a gym where I live so what is a good home gym that doesn’t take up space I can purchase?

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

I have a manual treadmill that I walk on. I want to tighten and tone my body too. There isn’t much room in the house I am living in so I would need a small home gym set up that I can put away.

I’d suggest saving money by not purchasing any equipment and just using your body weight to help yourself get fit. There so many exercises you can do beyond the conventional push up sit up combo. If you adamant about buying something I’d go for a kettle bell. Kettlenetics is very good option to lose fat, tone up and get very strong without the bulk. Russian kettle bell master, Pavel is the first place I’d recommend looking for the most effective, most intense workouts you ever do.

Anyone know where I can find a cheap full home gym set?

Monday, March 7th, 2011

I want a home gym that comes with a bench the bar to bench press, leg curl extension station, pulldown bar, basically a total body workout Home gym.

The machines with bands will be cheaper than the ones with cables and weight stacks. I’ve seen decent ones start at 250.

Here’s just one example; http://www.home-gym-review.com/bandflex-reviews.htm

Look around on that website, you might find something you like.

Does the bowflex home gym really give you good results? Looking for opinions?

Friday, March 4th, 2011

I live in an area that doesn’t have a gym, so I was looking to purchase some home gym equipment and was wondering how well the blowflex home gym really works. I want to get toned and taunt.

Currently, I use a Denise Austin manual treadmill about 3-5 times a week and walk 4 miles on it.

I’m not interested in the bowflex treadmills–I am interested in the bowflex home gym.

My brother used the Bow-flex home gym back in the 80’s and Wow… dedication and consistency are the key to getting into shape, no matter what methods or equipment you use…

What is the most affordable home gym?

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

I am looking for a decent affordable home gym, can someone please recommend some? Thanks for any help and God bless.

walmart has some surprisingly good home gyms.also sears has some great deals on some really good gyms also, keep in mind the weight limits on all of these.

Where shall I start investing in a home gym?

Friday, February 18th, 2011

I want to spend around £2000 on a home gym just with a bike, rower and multi gym. I already have a treadmill. I have my eye out on the concept 2 rowing Machine, so that’s £1000 gone (kind of). What stuff shall i get? Also, i am a rugby player, shall I bulk or rip? thanks!

Firstly, I can’t see the point in a home gym. Ultimately the gym in your local town is going to have rowing machines, Bikes and treadmills. AND tonnes of weight machines and matts, etc etc. So it may not even be worth buying a home gym.

But, If you insist on a home gym then a Concept 2 rowing machine is great, I have one at my local gym and I love it. The treadmill sounds good. So you should do alright for cardio stuff. If you do want a static bike there are plenty out there, Most of them great.

Before going out and buying some of the huge weights machines which cost £££££’s, Consider which ones you really want. Do push ups, use the little hand weights instead. A lot can be done with those little weights you hold in your hands. So only get the machines you’ll REALLY use to get maximum value for money, And try doing other things to save money. Pull Ups and Press ups, etc etc.

And Bulk or Rip? Well it depends on your position. If your a prop go for bulk, If your a winger go for rip. Every other position is somewhere between the two.

Hope it helps. :)

Which is better Free Weights or BioForce for a home gym?

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

I want a compact home gym, (I live in a studio so it has to not take up that much space.) I was wondering which is better, I was going to get the BioForce but I read that weights are better and cheaper.

Well the Bio Force is better for several reasons. Safety being the biggest one. If your at home alone using free weights and say your doing a bench press and you cant lift it then there you are stuck with a large quantity of weight on your chest. The machine also pretty much limits you to the correct motion of the exercises where free weights if done incorrectly can cause muscle injury.

Can you add weight to a pull system home gym?

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

I just bought a marcy pully system home gym , it only has a weight stack of 150lbs. Is there anyway to add weight to the weight stack? Like buy more weight plates for it? Please help. Thanks!

No that isn’t safe.
There is no need to use that much weight anyway though. Use your body weight (e.g. pull ups or sit-ups). That is plenty of weight for ya. Also you can try using elastic bands that they sell for exercises. You can just stretch the band as much as you want to get more resistance.

Search for exercise routines online to get suggestions for exercises to do.
