What are the things to look for when buying a treadmill for home workouts?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Can anyone tell me the approximate price of a treadmill a motorised version of course. Is it worth buying one? or is it better to go to a gym?

Hello,

I think I can help you out with this. If time is important to you, go with buying your own treadmill. If not, then the gym is probably a better choice. You’ll have access to professional grade treadmills with neat things like well designed shock absorption systems and if you decide you want to weight train, you’ll have plenty of strength equipment at your disposal.

However, if you still want a treadmill here are the things you need to look out for:

1: What are you using the treadmill for?
Do you plan on running or walking? If you’re walking, you can easily get by with a lower end treadmill for under a $1000. If you plan on serious running routines, go with a higher end treadmill such as a Horizon T84 or a Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill. They’re great for home users with!

2: Heart Rate Control
If you want to lose weight, heart rate control will enable you to maintain a specific heart rate at which your body burns fat most efficiently. *There’s a difference between heart rate control and heart rate monitoring. Heart rate control dictates the speed and incline of your treadmill according to your heart rate and, heart rate monitoring references tracking how fast your heart beat is.

Are there any good at-home workouts that are as effective as inclined bench presses?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

i really would like to know. are there any?

Yes, the old standard – pushups. Do them in various body positions:

on the knees, on the toes, feet raised on a bed with hands on the floor, one hand etc etc. It’s best to use a pushup bar as the pressure on your wrists can get pretty intense.

The advantage the bench presses have is that you can add more weight as your strength develops. To add weight onto your back doing pushups needs a spotter

What are the best home workouts?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I want to do exercise at home this winter and get rid of my belly fat. I am working on loosing weight right now, so I will be ready for a good work out come September. I would prefer Christian videos or Tae-bo. I am not into yoga or other religious stuff.

Whichever workout you STICK with. They all work. If they fail, it’s only because the person doing it decided to stop.

Home workout: reverse curls exercise for a great pump

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

http://scoobysworkshop.com
Reverse curls are great to finish off your arm workout because they give you a great pump – brushing your teeth is tough after doing these!

This exercise is done with the palms facing down instead of facing up like in a standard barbell curl, This exercise is much more difficult to do than a barbell curl so dont use a lot of weight, start with about 35% of what you can do with the palms up.

These can be done using the preacher bench as shown here or from a standing position. I suggest doing these at the end of your arm workout when your biceps are good and weak, that way, even though the bicep is stronger than the forearm they are both worked out evenly.

The muscle size increase in a pump is short lived, typically much less than an hour. A pump is not a sign of permanent growth, rather an indication that you have worked out hard and that bloodflow has increased to the muscle.

Forearm exercises are tough on the elbows and we don’t want you getting tendonitis so only use the amount of weight that lets you use slow, controlled form. If you have any pains in your elbow region, see your doctor before doing these!

Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.
