What home workouts will most quickly add visible mass to calves?

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Right now I have rather thin calves. I would like to know what calf workouts I can do at home with only dumbells (not running) will most quickly add visible mass to my calves. I am a rather impatient person… so if I don’t see results in one to two months I will stop. Also, how often should I be working my calves? Thanks!

Squats – this can be done with your back against a wall, same as above
Calve Raises – for calves, with this exercise heaviest weight, and do till failure

Is Bowflex the best brand for home workouts?

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Is bowflex the best when it comes to working out with dumbbells at home? Is there a better brand then bowflex?

Without a doubt, resistance bands are one of the best options. If you get a set with handles, straps and a door anchor, they can mimic all those Bowflex machine workouts. I got my complete set for under $50. To see the workouts that you can do with them, go here

What are some 30 minute home workouts that can give you p90x type results?

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I have been working out for many years. I am more lean than bulked up.

What are some effective 30 minute home workouts that will give me p90x type results?

Most of the p90x workouts are repeat workouts. So if you want you can do each set of moves once and then move on to the next set of moves. That will cut down the time to about 30 mins but if your already a really fit guy that will most likely just maintain your fitness level, not take it up a level(doing the full workout)

What are some home workouts that i can do to work pecks w/o equipment?

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Wanna work my pecks but don’t know how.. Help?

Just do a lot of push ups from different angle and arm positions. Do regular push ups then with your hands close together or using a ball such as a medicine ball/basketball/soccer ball. Do decline push ups at different angles using chairs for your feet and your hands being on the floor. Use tables chairs or any other items to adjust the height. You can also do incline push up by placing your hands on an item that is higher like a table and your feet on the ground. Push ups are one of the best exercises around. You can also to dips using two chairs., this hits your triceps more but will will hit your chest also/ As you get better you can do one handed push ups. You can also vary these with a physio ball if you have one or stretch bands are good and inexpensive and offer a lot more variety. Check out Ironchestworkouts.com for some ideas.

What are some at home workouts to prepare for boot camp?

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

I have a treadmill at my house that i run on every day (can run a 7:55 minute mile right now) but i dont have anything else in my house, i know pushups pullups and situps help but are their any other workouts? and how many reps should i do for all the workouts without tearing a muscle?

Well first off you don’t really need to worry about tearing a muscle when talking about push ups sit ups and pull ups… Second, if you can-run outside, treadmills are boring, and it really does a lil more for the confidence to know "sweet I really just ran 3 miles", Then "oh this treadmill said I just ran 3 miles", know what I mean?

Since you can break 8min mile I’ll guess that you are active. If you aren’t active ease into it, don’t go from the couch to running miles everyday. I’ll give you a week schedule to follow for a few weeks if you want.

(again assuming you are active already)
Day 1 – IST run 1.5 miles, max sit ups in 2 mins, max pull ups
Day 2 – Max push ups x 2
Day 3 – Run 2 miles
Day 4 – Run 1 mile hard, Max sit ups in 2 mins, Max pull ups
Day 5 – Max push ups
Day 6 – Run 3 miles
Day 7 – REST

I just threw that together =P but that would be something I would do.

Can Anyone Suggest Any Home workouts?

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Can anyone suggest any home workouts that would improve my fitness for rugby, i am 17 years old ,i play second row, number 5 and need to improve my fitness and strentgh any advice or giudence would be much apprieciated !

Disclaimer: I don’t recommend any diet to you or anyone, but I just wanted to share my experience. You should talk to your nutritionist/doctor before making any drastic changes to your body.

Currently, I’ve been exercising on my "air-stepper" at home, and I get on it for 15 minutes each day to get my cardio workout. I take my pulse at 5 min. intervals for 15 minutes to see if I’m improving. ^_^ Then, I get on my Total Gym and start working on my arms and legs (pulling, pushing, etc.). To tone my abs, I do 200 crunches (I lay on my Total Gym at an incline, so it’s VERY easy and no back strain!); they are much easier than sit-ups. ^_^ Lastly, I do 100 of those "standing-up" crunches. I don’t know what to call them, but I saw it on Hip-Hop Abs. You can see a sample of it here: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/hip_hop_abs.do?code=HIPHOPABSDOTCOM

The lay down crunches and the standing up crunches that I do gave me the flat stomach I have now. ^____^ Very happy with the results. You can do as many as your body can tolerate for ONE day and feel your stomach flatter immediately afterwards (at least for me)! It’s incredible!

If you do not have gym equipment, just jumping around and running place for 15-30 minutes will get you your cardio workout. Eat yogurt, fruits, and other health foods. Drink tons of water and your daily dosage of milk. ^_^

Good luck! :D
