What are some at home workouts to prepare for boot camp?
I have a treadmill at my house that i run on every day (can run a 7:55 minute mile right now) but i dont have anything else in my house, i know pushups pullups and situps help but are their any other workouts? and how many reps should i do for all the workouts without tearing a muscle?
Well first off you don’t really need to worry about tearing a muscle when talking about push ups sit ups and pull ups… Second, if you can-run outside, treadmills are boring, and it really does a lil more for the confidence to know "sweet I really just ran 3 miles", Then "oh this treadmill said I just ran 3 miles", know what I mean?
Since you can break 8min mile I’ll guess that you are active. If you aren’t active ease into it, don’t go from the couch to running miles everyday. I’ll give you a week schedule to follow for a few weeks if you want.
(again assuming you are active already)
Day 1 – IST run 1.5 miles, max sit ups in 2 mins, max pull ups
Day 2 – Max push ups x 2
Day 3 – Run 2 miles
Day 4 – Run 1 mile hard, Max sit ups in 2 mins, Max pull ups
Day 5 – Max push ups
Day 6 – Run 3 miles
Day 7 – REST
I just threw that together =P but that would be something I would do.

well first of all the mile time is pretty good but they are looking for you to run that fast for a long time
i run 4 miles a day and it helps because you have to be carrying 50+ pounds of gear so try wearing some chest weights (do not wear ankle weights because they might mess up your ankle) you have to tear muscle to gain muscle in boot camp they make you run with rack sack(bags with weights on it) on your back so i would practice or get used to it; the reps depends on how much you do already but try to do as much in one set and if you fall restart again and the next day try to pass it but make sure you rest and drink alot of water.

If you are a young person, don’t brag too much about that 8 minute mile. But, I guarantee, you WILL improve in boot camp. Get off the treadmill and get out and run through you neighborhood. You will run everywhere you go in boot camp (except the places and times that you march). Running is the most essential workout. If you are worried about tearing muscles, maybe the military isn’t the best place for you. Do push ups, sit ups and pull ups until you can’t do anymore. Your body will tell you when you reach your limits. Pain is your friend, as you will find out in boot camp.
Boot camp is a lot more tahn physical work-outs. there is a good deal of psychological pressure designed to mold you into an effective team member. Being able to overcome physical pain and discomfort is more mental than it is physical. At least it was when I went through boot camp 40 yaers ago.

Most of the physical exercises in boot camp are not about muscle building. They’re to prepare you for the physical activity that is required to survive a war. Muscle sure doesn’t hurt, but what’s more important is endurance, stamina, and flexibility.
The best exercises to prepare you for boot camp would be mountain climbs. Get on your hands and toes and alternate bringing your knee to your chest like running in place only on the ground. Another is "duck walks". Squat down and walk like you’re imitating a duck. Another is running in place and raising your knee as high as it can go in front of you. And of course do your basic push ups, sit ups, squat thrusts, and go for a jog everyday.
Boot camp is more mental than physical but it doesn’t hurt to prepare your body and be in shape.

weight’s, army crawl, push up position as long as you can. I heard running in place, jog for a half hour for a week then run the next week. This is what my dad told me before he went in the big blue home in the sky…(cry) and i still miss him.

When you run in the army for P.T. tests your going to be running 2 miles. Try and get your time down to around 14 min. You’ll pass with flying colors no matter your age. A good way to get a better run time is 30/60’s. Sprint for 30 seconds and then speed walk for 60. Do that a couple times a week and i garentee you’ll see results. Start ruck marching, Load up a backpack with 45-50 lbs and just go. Try and do a 8 min pace for a mile and once again you’ll have no problems. For pushups you’ll have 2 minutes to do as many as you can. If I remember right 42 is passing but getting up to 75 and or 80 will make you look good. Situps is the same deal, 2 minutes and 80-85 will look great. Even though swimming has nothing to do with Army testing it’s a great way to jump start yourself. Just make sure you build up some endurance because your going to be sitting in the pushup position for loooong periods of time lol. And make sure you build up some calices (sorry if i spelled that wrong) on your feet for ruck marching. And most important keep a positive attitude and you’ll have no problems. Oh and don’t listen to the private news network. you’ll learn what that is once you get there lol. good luck bro
